Reporters Is A Unique Series – Kritika Kamra
Kritika Kamra is hopeful that her SET show Reporters could be a harbinger of change in the desi TV scenario. “Our limited series is unique in the sense that despite love blooming between the protagonists Aanya (Kratika's character name) and Kabir (Rajeev Khandelwal) the emphasis on the professional news channel set up has not waned. You no longer only see romance as in other shows. Rather here we dwell on the complications a couple faces working in the same set up or a hierarchical arrangement (senior- junior relationship). Normally you come home to your love, but here you have to work with him or her. You can't even afford to shows favouritism as Kabir blasted Anaya for losing an important clip. It would be interesting to watch how Kabir functions under his ex -wife Shreya (Ankita Bhargav) who has entered the office as his new boss.”
Kratika goes on. “Besides romance, we also show the ego hassles which any big organization worth it‘s salt will have dime a dozen, and things only worsen if you work in a highly competitive sector like media. One other major positive of our show is that our characters are very really realistic, they are not unnecessarily vindictive like Shreya is not shown as a vamp. She is professional woman who has come here to do a job, but yes has a past.”
”Remind her the ratings of Reporter don’t rock she said, “it is fine the producers (Rose Audio Visuals) and the channel were always aware that the show is not your big TRP guzzler so they don’t resort to last minute changes to the script. We were always aware that Shreya will enter the show at one stage or the other. The story is proceeding according to a plan. Reporters was always planned as a six months show, and we have just about reached the half-way mark. I can assure viewers that the story will end with a high after all the necessary twists and turns. We will not leave any questions unanswered. ”
Here Kratika added,“ one solution to lack of quality content is lack of proper planning, “hope a time will come when we will have seasonal shows as in the west, which gives enough time for writers to put their creative energies at work. Also the seasonal break is needed for all concerned to recharge our batteries.” She did accept that across the board limited series have not yet clicked,“ but at least Reporter will be mentioned in the list which tried to be different. If you don’t try you will never change right!”
