10 QUESTIONSRajeev KhandelwalThe actor and television host on his new show, Super Cars, on National Geographic channel
ARPITA BASU INTERVIEWS RAJEEV KHANDELWALTell us about the show.It showcases supercars from across the world, each episode spotlights a different car. It is a bonanza for car lovers.
Which of the cars did you like best? They are all dream cars, but the one I would pick is the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The look of the car is really masculine.
You’ve got a rugged avatar for Super Cars.
Yes, in the promos I am pumping a lot of iron, which is not something I do usually! In the episodes, my outfits will complement the particular cars that I will be showcasing.
Have cars always been a passion?I had my share of Lamborghini posters while growing up, but cars were not a passion till three years ago. That is when I bought a Scorpio suv and customised it with the help of a specialist. That drew me into the technology.
What changes did you make?I am an avid camper and redesigned it to suit my needs. The car is canary yellow, and I made it a four-seater with plenty of room to accommodate camping gear. It has an extra fuel tank, a refrigerator and digital additions.
How has the response to your film Soundtrack been?Very encouraging. The credit goes to the director; I only did what I was asked to do.
Any new films?I’ll be in Raakh by Tanuja Chandra, next.
Will Sacch ka Saamna 2 hold any surprises? You cannot tamper too much with the DNA of the show, but there will be innovations.
Television or films—which do you prefer? Each has a different identity. I am restless and want to do projects that break new ground and extend my range as an actor. Each film offers a different story and that is satisfying.
No more serials for you, then?I have already done soaps. Why repeat myself? Why go back to that safe zone?
